IIMC Amravati

Campus:
The IIMC Amravati centre is temporarily located within the University campus. The campus itself is well spread out, with wide, well maintained avenues, departments, library, administrative buildings, sports complexes including a swimming pool and gymnasia, post office, bank with ATM facility, hostels and canteens. There are woods and parks and lawns and a couple of lakes inside, making the university campus a favourite spot for students as well as for morning and evening walkers.

The administrative and academic activities are carried out on the first floor of an independent, spacious, newly constructed building called the Jichkaar Memorial Centre.

Facilities:
Besides the office, there is a class-room with LCD display facility, a computer laboratory with round-the-clock internet connectivity, a recording studio equipped with a tele-prompter, lighting equipment, editing software (FCP), recorders, SLR digital cameras, handy cams, PD 170 video camera and a library stocked with newspapers, magazines and books related with the curriculum as well as for general reading.
Accommodation facility is available for both girls and boys within the campus.

The Schedule:
The day begins at 9.00 with the compulsory newspaper reading session. Discussions, presentations on various issues are part of our academics. From 10.00 to 1.00 it is mostly theory time. But post lunch, after accommodating one more theory period, the effort is to send the students on the field for collecting news.

Activities:
We bring out dailies (one page), weeklies (two pages), monthlies (4-6 pages), and also special issues for special occasions. Our students also produce Radio and Television pieces as part of their practical training. Besides the local faculty, we have visiting faculty arriving from Delhi for a two to three week visit.We also visit the Melghat Forest Reserve, 100 kms from here, where the Melghat Tiger Project is located. We arrange an annual trip to Nagpur for visiting the AIR and Doordarshan stations and other media houses. .

Placement:
The placement is centralised, which takes place in Delhi. The students of the previous batches have been handsomely placed in the field. They are now working in reputed media organizations like PTI, Doordarshan, Zee TV, The Pioneer, Hindustan Times, Times of India and Free Press Journal etc. in New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc.
